David Bruce Cumming, a native of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in the historical Clark Cemetery in Weatherford. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Christ Chapel Bible Church, The Oakroom, Birchman Ave., Fort Worth. Memorials: Donations may be made in memory of Dave Cumming to Clark Cemetery Association, 6401 Old Springtown Road, Weatherford, Texas 76085; or CCBC West Campus Building Fund, Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Dave was born May 2, 1949, to Richard Alton and Foye R. Gilley Cumming. Dave majored in journalism at Texas Christian University after graduating from Arlington Heights High School. His life work has always connected to his love for flying, history, literature, nature and the art of writing. He excelled as an editor and photographer; and contracted as a technical writer with leading companies in the aeronautics industry such as General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter and Raytheon, and most recently, Beumer Glidepath of Arlington. This year he authored and illustrated his first book, "My Mane Tails," which is dedicated to his granddaughter, Lily. The book celebrates their mutual appreciation for horses and shares his "Stories About the Horses I Have Known." Dave is a humble servant of God with many gifts, loving friends, and is greatly missed. Survivors: His loving wife, Melodie Lynn; son, Dr. Jeffrey Cumming and wife, Leslie, of Ardmore, Okla.; and stepchildren, Michael and Amelia Bourassa. He is a proud grandparent to Lily, and twins, Lila and Luke Cumming. Also surviving are sister, Sharon Hobart of Waco; brothers, Greg Cumming of Jacksboro, and fraternal twin, Dwight Cumming of Fort Worth.
